• Jan 11, 2011, CNNIC and representatives from domestic and overseas registrars and partners convened the 8th Conference for Chinese Internet Address Resource Registrars, on which the attendees exchanged ideas on management of Chinese Internet address resources, services and other experiences and application development.

• Jan 19, 2011, CNNIC published the 27th Statistical Report on Internet Development Situation in China. The Report indicates Chinese netizens had reached 457 million by the end of December 2010; therein, online shopping users achieved an annual growth rate as high as 48.6%, grew the rapidest, indicating more economic activities are stepping into Internet age.

• Jan 23-26, 2011, CNNIC and ISC convened the annual joint-laboratory working conference in Beijing. President of the world-known ISC and Co-chairman Paul Vixie of CNNIC-ISC CILAB were present at the second working conference held in Beijing.

• Jan 24, 2011, CNNIC was titled “Advanced Unit for Industrial Operation Analysis and Information Statistics 2010”.

• Feb 25, 2011, on the 31st APNIC Open Policy Conference (hereinafter referred to as “APNIC 31”) held in Hong Kong, Mr. Zhao Wei of CNNIC was selected as a member of Executive Council (EC), with a tenure of 2 years, and she thus became the youngest executive member in the history of APNIC.

• Mar 3, 2011, the two industrial standards Requirements on Domain Name Registration System Security Protection and Requirements on Domain Name Registration System Security Protection and Detection formulated under the guidance of CNNIC in CCSA were proposed and approved, and currently waiting for official publication.

• April 20-22, 2011, CNNIC sent representatives to participate in the 19th plenary session of CCSA (China Communications Standards Association) TC1 (IP and Multimedia Communication Technology Working Committee), on which Research Fellow Li Xiaodong was selected Vice Chairman of CCSA TC1, and Mr. Kong Ning was selected Deputy Head of CCSA TC1 WG4.

• Jun 8, 2011, CNNIC, in associate with each IP Address Allocation Association members, Internet basic resource operator, service provider and each domain name registrar, held “Summit for Promoting the Deployment of Internet Basic Resource IPv6 in China” in Beijing, on which “Next-generation Internet Basic Resource Platform” construction was kicked off.

• Jun 30, 2011, CNNIC launched ccTLD cloud resolution service to provide safe, rapid and easy-to-use resolutions to ccTLD users, and this improved the smoothness and reliability of various network applications. It’s currently the one and only ccTLD administration institution that provides free cloud resolution service in the world.

• July 19, 2011, CNNIC published the 28th Statistical Report on Internet Development in China in Beijing. The Report indicates that Chinese netizens had reached 485 million by the end of June 2011, and the scale growth turned lower; business applications showed mild increase; micro-blog became an Internet application model with the rapidest growth, and micro-blog users have increased drastically from 63.11 million at the end of 2010 to 195 million, increased by 208.9%.

• August 23, 2011, CNNIC won the title “China Internet Responsible and Active Institution” on the opening ceremony of China Internet Conference 2011, for its remarkable performance: in addition to fulfillment of the national public welfare mission, CNNIC has been providing the industry with a safe and reliable Internet environment, providing users with standard and high efficient domain name registration and management services, and constantly pushing forward the service application of Internet infrastructures.

• Sept. 22, 2011, a delegation headed by Minister H.E. Hiem Phommachanh and Vice Minister Thansamay KOMMASITH of Ministry of Telecommunication of Laos and Director Khamkhith SAISONGKHAM of National Network Information Center of Laos visited CNNIC. The two sides conducted communication and discussions on national network information center building, ccTLD operation management, and exchanged ideas on further cooperation and communication.

• Sept. 27-28, 2011, CNNIC held “Next-Generation Internet Address Resource Summit” in Qingdao, on which representatives of Internet basic resource operators, equipment manufacturers, service providers, domain name registrars were present, and discussed how to push forward the comprehensive deployment of IPv6 in China.

• Sept. 28, 2011, CNNIC launched a nationwide tour of “Internet Lecture”. The aim of the activity is to enhance the public’s knowledge about Internet and its application by lectures, so as to promote the healthy development of Internet industry.

• Dec. 14, 2011, “Annual Meeting of Anti-Phishing Alliance of China 2011” was held in Beijing, themed “joint-prevention, sharing and co-governance”, over 100 Alliance members were present at the meeting signed Proposal on Collective Action of Anti-Phishing Alliance of China in which the direction of the joint actions were confirmed to fight against phishing, safeguard the interests and rights of netizens and ensure network health.

• Dec. 29, 2011, CNNIC established DNSLAB. DNSLAB will carry out theoretical and application technology research in the fields of e-government/business study, cloud computing, Internet service security, etc, for the purpose of improving the comprehensive capacity and technical influence of China’s research on basic Internet techniques, and build up an open research environment for win-win cooperation.
