Recently, CNNIC National Domain Name Security Center (NDNSC) together with Anti-phishing Working Group (APWG) and Anti-Phishing Alliance of China (APAC) released the Global Chinese Phishing Sites Report (2nd half 2012) . The Report analyzed the phishing attacks targeting Chinese brands and therefore Chinese users over the world in 2nd half of 2012.

According to the Report, the number of phishing sites targeting at Chinese users was 7,504 in 2nd half of 2012, which is a 53% decrease compared to that of 15618 in 1st half of 2012. In 2nd half of 2012, there were collectively 42 brands that were the targets of phishing attacks. The reported attacks on the top 6 targets accounted for 95.1% of all the reports, indicating that phishing is concentrated in distribution. Consistent with the data of 1st half of 2012, .com was the most commonly used of all the top level domains (TLD) in phishing attacks. Due to the real name auditing mechanism of .cn domain names, there were only 26 .cn domains used in phishing attacks during 2nd half 2012 and .cn ranked 16th in all the TLDs.

The Report integrated the data of 1st half of 2012 and illustrated the global Chinese phishing data of 2012. In 2012, there were 23,122 Chinese phishing sites reported globally. The peak number of Chinese phishing sites reported in a month occurred in May (3,325 phishing sites were discovered). In 2012, 82 brands were involved and 130 top level domains were used in Chinese phishing attacks. .com, .tk and .cc were the most three used TLDs and accounted for 57.2% of the total number.
