Ond ej Sury, Director of the Research and Development Department of CZNIC, said that after the authoritative DNS server software Knot DNS developed by CZNIC independently was launched, the software needed to undergo several relevant performance tests; however, if the work were to be carried out by the software maker itself, some errors would be inevitable due to certain subjective or objective reasons.
Therefore, he thought that DNS-OARC could become an ideal third-party DNS performance testing platform. Since preparation for establishing this platform requires certain resources, he thought that in the initial period of preparation, the industry could draft some relevant standard documents together.
This idea of Ond ej Sury arounsed interests of people in the industry, including some well-known persons in the industry like Shane Kerr from ISC and Paul Vixie. Besides, Geoffrey Sisson from DNS-OARC also established a mail group for it. Now there are nearly 100 members in this mail group. The subscription address of this mail group is https://lists.dns-oarc.net/mailman/listinfo/dns-benchmarking.
