VeriSign plans to apply for about 12 new gTLDs

Verisign today announced that it had submitted applications for 12 new gTLDs including nine IDN .COM, domain names and three IDN .NET domain names. It involves some .com equivalents and .net equivalents in Japanese, Hangul, Chinese, Cyrillic, Arabic, and Hebrew.
VeriSign also said that applicants for about 220 new gTLDs selected the company as the registry provider for new gTLD applications. Besides, the company also submitted to ICANN the applications for the new gTLDs .verisign and .comsec.
