Representatives from CNNIC Attended APNIC 33 Conference
During 27th Feb to 2ed Mar, 2012, the 33th open policy conference of Asia-Pacific Network Information Center (APNIC) was held in New Delhi of India. Representatives and experts from a total 97 APNIC member units and 43 economies attended this conference. The topics focused on the discussion of the related policies of IPv6 address allocation, the Internet governance and APNIC services, etc.
Proposed policies during the conference mainly focused on the policy of allocation of IPv6 addresses, and there were four proposals were discussed in the conference, which fully reflected the recent hot themes discussed within APNIC community.
During the conference, APNIC Executive Council (abbreviated as EC) announced that India became a member of National Internet Registry (NIR), and National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) is responsible for the operation of the affairs of the NIR.
The conference re-elected for three posts of Executive Council member with the due tenure. Professor Yan Ma of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications won re-election with of two years tenure.
Experts of CNNIC took important posts in the APNIC (Asia-Pacific Network Information Center). Ms. Wei Zhao, deputy director of business operation department of CNNIC, has been the youngest ever female EC member in APNIC history, and Ms. Zhi Shen, leader of IP team of business operation department of CNNIC, is the co-chair of NIR (National Internet Registry) SIG (Special Interest Group). More appointments of domestic Chinese experts in APNIC help improvement of discourse right and initiative of our country to respond to IPv4 exhaustion and transition to IPv6.

APNIC is one of five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) in the world, and is mainly charged with ensuring the distribution and responsible management of IP addresses and related digital resources. It holds the opening policy conference twice a year to discuss the technical and political problems that affect Asia-Pacific Internet community. Its practice has the fundamental influence on the Internet development of Asia-Pacific region.
