Representatives from CNNIC Attended APNIC 32 Conference

During 28th Aug to 1st Sep, 2011, the 32th opening policy conference of Asia-Pacific Network Information Center (APNIC) was held in Busan of South Korea. More than 200 experts and representative members from international and Asia-Pacific Internet institutions, such as ICANN, APNIC, CNNIC and JPNIC attended this conference. The topics focused on the discussion of the transition from IPv4 to IPv6, appropriate allocation of IPv6 addresses and the global cooperation, etc.
 
IP address is the fundamental Internet resource. Asia-pacific region became the first one that IP addresses were exhausted and faced more urgent trouble of the transition to IPv6 compared with other regions, since APNIC announced that IPv4 addressed were run out on 15th April of this year. 
  
During the conference, several experts from Internet Society (ISOC), Nippon Telegraph & Telephone (NTT) and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications introduced the activities carried out on the ‘world IPV 6 day’ on 8th Jun. of this year, acquired feedback and the next prospect planning from the various perspectives. Proposed policies during the conference mainly focused on the allocation of IPv6 addresses and fully reflected the recent hot themes discussed within APNIC community.As member of APNIC Executive Council (abbreviated as EC), Ms. Wei Zhao of CNNIC attended the whole EC meeting and discussed with the several international organizations on the working direction of APNIC. Ms. Zhi Shen of CNNIC, was successfully elected as the co-chair of NIR (National Internet Registry) SIG (Special Interest Group), which would be beneficial to the communication and cooperation among NIRs and APNIC.
  
APNIC is one of five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) in the world, and is mainly charged with ensuring the distribution and responsible management of IP addresses and related digital resources. It holds the opening policy conference twice a year to discuss the technical and political problems that affect Asia-Pacific Internet community. Its practice has the fundamental influence on the Internet development of Asia-Pacific region.
