From February 11 to 13, 2014, Fadi Chehadé, CEO of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), visited CNNIC with his team. Xiangyang HUANG, Director of CNNIC, and Xiaodong LI, CEO of CNNIC, accompanied their visit. Youquan GUO, ICANN’s Vice President for global stakeholder engagement for the Asia Region, and Zheng SONG, Head of ICANN Beijing Engagement Center took part in the meeting. The both sides exchanged opinions regarding cooperation and exchange, ICANN internationalization and Internet governance.

Mr.Huang said that for the past years CNNIC has established close relationship with ICANN by taking part in the ICANN high level structure, undertaking ICANN 46 meeting, operating ICANN Beijing Engagement Center and joining the New gTLD program. He also expected that the both sides can strengthen communication and cooperation in respect of both technology and talent exchange. Mr.Li said that CNNIC will continue support ICANN internationalization trial, and hoped that the both sides will carry out more and more cooperation in the Internet governance field.

Fadi said that the development of global Internet can’t be progressed without the participation of Chinese Internet community and ICANN will intensify the communication with the Chinese side with the Beijing Engagement as a bridge. He also expected that more deep and multi-level cooperation will be carried out with CNNIC.
